So as the name tells it's Virtualization over HTTP.
So How, Why, and what does HTTP Virtualization mean?
In short, Virtualization, is a virtual enviroment where an OS, app, ...etc run. HTTP virtualization, is running a virtual enviroment piped through over HTTP/HTTPS, i.e port 80 or 443 respectively.
Big thanks to ULTEO, which made virtualization very much possible, and with ULTEO, you can run LINUX/WINDOWS apps over HTTP, i.e right from the web, without having to install any 3rd party software.
But WHY?
The answer is quite simple. You can use such exceptionally smart, yet convenient solution to edit documents like word, excel, powerpoint, .... etc, right from the web, without having to install any editor whatsoever, and that's where Cloud Computing comes into play. Ulteo, provides solutions, for large companies that wanna launch their own servers of cloud computing with full control over data being stored and edited on day to day basis, in addition to the fact that Ulteo is Open source, unless you're requesting their support.
HOW?
You can simply download and install their packages, or you can download a ready to use image. whichever suits your needs. The challenge however comes with ready to use one, since the image is roughly 5 GB, which means all your users have to fit within the disk space. and expanding it, isn't a smart idea either.... BUT why is it NOT !? Well, Ulteo, offers a pretty decent web interface, but things like searching for documents is quite slow, as it only uses seek algorithm, UNLIKE OWNCLOUD cloud server, which allows indexing files with the help of the Lucene addon, making your life so much easier. and that Brings me to the topic Integration of OwnCloud in Ulteo, where you're able to see files stored in your OWNCLOUD account under ulteo, making it so much easier to open, view, and edit files stored in your cloud, with more powerful features than Google docs, where you have full control and access to fully featured office suite using Libre Office, or any software of your choosing. Be careful not to violate license Terms and Conditions. I use Libre Office since it's open source.
If someone has more powerful PHP5 skills, cuz mine, are pretty progressive, and I could definetly use a hand integrating Ulteo in OWNCLOUD, instead of the Versa.
Either way, I was able to integrate OWNCLOUD in ulteo, which brings about a wodnerful experience in cloud computing.
